"I have hunted with L’wyk van Vuuren on two separate occasions – 2007 and 2009. Both were 100% successful, exciting and enjoyable. I harvested all 10 plains animals available. My Greater Kudu was trophy class (57 ½”) as was the Springbok and Common Impala.
L'wyk is personable, very knowledgeable about Namibia history, flora and fauna, an exceptional sense of game movement, habits and habitat. He spots and identifies game quickly and accurately regarding species, sex and whether or not a trophy harvestable specimen. L’wyk has hunter’s integrity and enthusiastic tenacity for the sport. I highly recommend Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris and know the food, lodging accommodations and amenities will be far beyond your expectation. Truly an experience of a life time!!!
I have stayed in Windhoek, the capitol of Namibia, a total of 4 days. Namibia is a Democratic Republic with better governance than any of the Southern Africa countries. Pay attention to what your host (P.H. – Professional Hunter) or hostess says – where to go, where not to go, what to do, what not to do, because street crime does exist but not any worse than a big city in the USA!!! Have the hostess (owner) of Ongonga Hotel in Windhoek arrange or recommend reliable transportation for you. This is a highly recommended inn/bed & breakfast accommodation if one is needed for an overnight stay in the city.
I suggest flying from the U.S. to Frankfurt, Germany and then direct to Windhoek, Namibia (Hosea Kutako) via Air Namibia. This (1) avoids entering South Africa with a firearm (2) less chance for lost luggage (3) firearms permits are readily obtained by Windhoek airport (not so in S.A.) with U.S. customs form #4457."
I can not say enough good things about L'wyk as a knowledgeable and competent PH. He knows the animals habits which enabled us to make some very good shots. This was my wife's very first hunting trip of any kind and she, too, had a wonderful time, spotting animals we were not hunting, such as Zebra and Giraffe, but occasionally spotting some which we were hunting.
One of the intangibles of the entire trip was, we both felt comfortable. L'wyk and Julene are a very friendly couple, they made us feel welcome and made us feel as if we were part of their family. I give it a five star rating!
